Welcome to the first [community profile] last_arrival! If you're curious about what's going on here or are thinking about applying, feel free to take us for a test drive.

Scenario:
Your character has just arrived via the Return Point and taken the uneventful cart ride to a vast city known only to the locals as “the City”. You have no memories that go back 20 years (or less, up to you). You may have some strange new powers but those come with a rather nasty side effect, don't they? If you had a lot of powers, you'll either notice that they're gone altogether or that those nasty side effects are equivalent or worse than the power you're trying to use.

Lucky for you it seems like the City is already populated. Unlucky for you, they don't exactly have the best handle on this situation either.

Locations:
City Streets You're fresh off the cart and just checked into the keep. Now you're free to wander the City and see what there is to see.

Open Air Market You've checked in, sure but now you're still milling about the market. Feel free to see if anything you have will be an even trade.

Tipping the Velvet Welcome to the brothel. We don't need to tell you what goes on here. Maybe you're looking for a job, maybe you're looking for a good time. Maybe you just want a good vodka drink. Keep threads R rated for the test drive, please. Once the game opens, smut threads can be posted, but need to be locked to community members only

Fortunas Care to test your luck in the City's casino? Trade's pretty-much open to whatever the dealer wants. There's a full bar, a restaurant, and plenty of shiny things to distract you.

Apartments Everyone lives in the Apartments. Feel free to settle in, find a nice-ish place and hopefully the doors lock.

Saturday walks like she owns the world. She moves with grace that comes with centuries of learning how to move in just the right way and, when she sees him siting there, his drink in hand, she smiles

She's got no good reason to be intrigued other than the potential to swipe a drink off the guy but Saturday is one to roll with her whims and today is no different.

"hello," she says, grinning with more teeth than is strictly needed. "You look lonely. Care for some company?"

(OOC: Well played.)

Oh, she walks and she moves and she certainly does own someone's world that afternoon. Siebenkäs's mind skips; cuts out and comes down. He remembers, but then again, he absolutely doesn't, not in a way where he could cough up words to describe how or why or what.

There is no one to match this person in his memories, just here and just right then. And there's something weirdly freeing about the change of pace. He puts the flier he's been working through aside and smooths it against the tabletop. "Ah, yes," he manages and shoves the second chair out from under the table with the toes of his boot.

Oh, wonderful! She takes the offered seat, stretching out and seeming to somehow take up much more space than her small frame would seem to be able to occupy. She's a big presence, even now, even stripped down to bare bones of what she had once been.

"I was curious," she starts, reaching out and brushing the tip of her finger against his glass. "What's on the menu? Anything worth drinking or is it all swill?"

Her sister, Friday, would drink anything, she'd get drunk of cheap wine and cheaper hard stuff, but Saturday has always been a bit more discriminating.

She's impressive whoever she is. Impressive that he really should be angling to figure out who she works for or what she wants out of the City at least. That level of finesse however eludes him in the moment.

"They have chicory and some infused water-- lemongrass and berry, I think," he mentions. "The chicory isn't bad." Although, anyone with a sensitive enough nose can probably smell the rotgut vapors coming off of his cup. He considers taking a sip, but pauses with his hands around the chipped china.

She sniffs the air, considering what hse picks up, then nods. "I think I'll pass for now." She waves off the idea with one hand, then leans forward, watching him with bright eyes.

"You seem like you've got something on your mind." She tilts her head just a little, grin still etched on her face. "I'll trade you, if you're interested. A little tit for tat?"

"Eh," Siebenkäs manages after a few slow, grinding moments. He glances out over the street, to the path of the long-gone cart and all the people swirling; he thinks better of it and turns back-- better not to take his eyes off of this person.

A soft swallow and he mostly recovers himself.

Mostly.

"I was trying to get caught up on my reading for work. It's not very engaging. So, I'm happy for a distraction. You?"

He chances a sip of the chicory.

Or what was possibly maybe chicory, but is now about 90 proof.

"Wandering," she says with a shrug. "I'm new."

Which is to say that while she may seem confident as hell, she's making this all up as she goes. Which works for her, really. He's not afraid of fucking up and this is something new which is always exciting for her.

Reaching forward, she touches the cup gain, her fingers wrapping around it but not actually taking it.

"I'm Saturday, by the way." She smiles. "And what do I get to call you?"

"Of course. Not all who wander are..." he starts to say, but then that's her hand on his drink. And his hand. He's quoted Tolkein to so many other professed wanderers and done fine, but there he sits with his tongue stuck on his lips and Saturday watching him be stuck.

"Anyway, I go by Siebenkäs. Or Benny to enough people since apparently Siebenkäs is too long."

She cant' stop herself from laughing a little, soft and not unkind. "Lost?" She finishes for him. Then nods as he offers a name in return.

"Siebenkäs. I like it." Her fingers brush his knuckles, then she pulls away just long enough for her to wave a hand in the air. "Interesting wording there. Was the name you had before not worth your time?"

"Ah, yes, I mean..." He smiles. He can't exactly help it, although he tries not to in front of people he doesn't know well-- he's gotten some strange reactions in the City.

"It was customary to adopt other forms of address for work where I came from. I chose to keep using mine. It's from a book."

And this isn't the first time someone has asked about it, though Saturday hasn't been so blunt as Alpha, overly-interested as certain bar patrons, suspiscious as some of the faceless presences in his memories.

"Ah, okay." She nods. "I'm sure your job had to have been something terribly interesting, if that was the case." She laughs but doesn't pry, not yet. She might soon enough.

"Are you a big reader then, Siebenkäs?" She's feeling nosy about random things maybe but it helps her to figure out if she's going to tell him what she had once been. Or how, if she's honest. She has no issue talking about herself if the conversation permits and Saturday is hardly known for being shy.

"Yes," he answers with an unguarded enthusiasm which surprises even him and he's heard himself suddenly turn passionate about Emilione Descouteux after a few glasses of red wine.

(It's unnerving now how he knows her name and the watercolor sketch she used as a headshot on the jackets of her books, but he can't seems to place the names of anyone he read her with, though he knows he did this; though he knows these are some of the more tender moments of his life.)

"I'd rather read about things happening to imaginary people than wait around waiting for nothing to happen to me. It's much more interesting."

(OOC: and that author is name up, but the weird leftover canon of him being a fan seems to have stuck; apparently she's a surrealist.)

Saturday laughs, nodding in understanding. "Sometime other people's stories are all we have to get us through certain parts of life."

She moves, getting to her feet and walking behind him, her arms draping over his shoulders as she leans down murmur into his ear.

"Tell me me about a story that's kept you going, hm?" Her mouth is close enough to his ear that her lips brush up against it as she speaks. "Tell me something interesting."

Last Arrival

Last Arrival is a pan-fandom, original character friendly game set in a post-apocalyptic world where history has been mostly forgotten. Your character arrives from their world and to get home, they're going to have to help piece together what happened in this one. Be careful, however, once history is written it's not that easily undone.

The main story line of the game is already completed and will be comprised of chapters with clear starts and ends. Player characters are encouraged to get involved with the already written plot and to make sub-plots. As it is written, the game has threads and will play out as a sort of “choose your own adventure” depending on the player character's choices. The pace of the game's main story line is going to be slow to medium, depending on how threading and CR is going.
